A Forrest For The Fairies

This week I sat up painting little wooden trees green, time spent painting when I really should be in bed. Well worth it when I see their little faces in the morning as they discover their fairies frolicking in a new forest that has appeared on our nature table in the night... just like magic.

A Little Fairy From Across the Sea's

This little girl flew a long way to land at our home recently. She was made by the lovely Mama Rae from Morning Sun Rae. She has winged her way across the oceans from The Beautiful Blue Mountains of North Carolina to our home under the southern sky in New Zealand.

Isn't she just stunning? She is an adorable little creature made entirely from natural materials. We are very pleased to welcome her into our home. My girls have been very excited about her arrival and we have been telling stories of the journey she took to get here, much to Holly's delight.

If you have not checked out Morning Sun Rae before, please do. She has a beautiful blog brimming with all kinds of creativity. A truly inspiring blog.

This Little Piggy Went To Market

I am having a lot of fun at the moment making knitted miniature toys for the little one's to play with. There is something so incredibly rewarding about making toys for your own children, watching them enjoying the product of your handiwork.

How cute is this little piggy? He was made using this pattern. To give you an idea of just how tiny he really is, here he is sitting beside a spool of thread-

Next on my list is some teeny tiny chickens... I'm on a roll!

My Creative Space

There has been a little fairy move in at our place. She is not very big, tiny in fact, only standing about 7cm tall. Holly found her this morning, hiding beside some flowers on her nature table. Needless to say she was very surprised but also very happy that this little miss has taken up residence at our house.

It makes sitting up late last night to knit this wee fairy so worthwhile when I get to see the joy play out on my little girls face in the morning.

The magic of childhood, it is truly wonderful.

Flea Market Finds

I found two little gems this week. The first one was actually found by Holly. It is a little metal toy bus. This bus has traveled a long way since we found it, along all the shop windows on the way back to the car, around our lounge, kitchen and over her baby sister.

The second find is a little side table. I first spied it a couple of weeks back, tucked in the corner of my local junk shop. It kept playing on my mind, so I went back and amazingly it was still there. So, now it is calling the corner of my dining room home.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend :-)

Vintage Baby!

There is something about vintage toys that really appeals to me. Maybe it is because they remind me of my own happy childhood. Or maybe it is the simplicity of them. They require no batteries and allow so much more imagination play than many modern toys.

Here are a few of the vintage toys that currently call our house home-

A little pram from Kilmarnock enterprises.

My Sister's 1970's Fisher Price record player. Yes thats right- records. From a time long ago, before ipods, before CDs and even before tapes, people used to play records.

A lovely little 1960's Fisher price ferris wheel.

A little vintage dolls outfit. This was made by either my Mother or Sister in the 1970's and I think it is just too cute for words.

The easter bunny

The easter bunny came to our house this morning. It was the first year we have 'done' easter, with Holly being old enough to enjoy it. We had a little egg hunt round the house this morning. It was great fun watching Holly egg spotting. Also, could not resist making a couple more of these lovely little rabbits, one for each of my girls.

In keeping with the spirit of easter, Kirstin at Squidgyums is having an easter giveaway of one of her great little kids sleaveless hoodies. They look amazing so well worth entering.
