Today we celebrated out littlest one with a naming celebration. Mother nature was kind to us as usual, providing a beautiful hot day. Together with friends and family, we drew together. With the backdrop of the Canterbury plains behind us, we celebrated this beautiful little girl whom I am lucky enough to call my daughter.
Isla Rose.
We chose her name carefully. I find naming a child a huge responsibility and one not to be taken lightly. Isla (pronounced I-la) is a Scottish name derived from the island of Islay. Scotland is my birthplace, so, it just felt right to me to name her after a place with which I have such a strong connection. Rose, was my paternal grandmothers name. Holly took my husbands grandmothers name of Iris. We also found it beautifully appropriate that both our girls had flower names and the connotations that holds for us of nature and beauty.
A perfect name for a perfect girl.
It's such a lovely name & isn't she a sweetheart, what a lovely picture. I'm glad it was a great day, enjoy the rest of your weekend..
ReplyDeleteA beautiful name for a beautiful little girl! I absolutely adore the name Isla (my daughter's middle name is 'Skye', named after the Isle of Skye in Scotland where my ancestors came from!)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the weather gods were smiling down upon you today...what a gorgeous picture, one that you will treasure forever ♥

A very beautiful name for your sweet little girl! I too have Scottish ancestry and last year visited for the first time - what an amazing country! Our little girl's middle name is Rose, after her grandmother as well! :o)
ReplyDeleteI agree that naming a child is not something to take lightly. Lucky both the Grandmothers have such lovely names!
