Tick Tock

Tick tock, tick tock.... How did so much time pass without me writing here?!

Isn't it funny the twists and turns life takes, that move us and pull us in different directions. I have learn't  as an adult that we just need to go with it, after all, life is just one fabulous huge journey and who knows where we are going to end up!

Last year, I returned to the workforce. I had largely been at home with my girls for the majority of the previous 4 years. so making the decision to return to work was scary, exciting, frightening and fabulous, all rolled into one. I saw a job advertised one day in the paper and it jumped out at me. I cut out the advert and over the next few days, kept coming back and reading it. I decided to make the big leap, submitting my CV and the rest, as they say, is history.

So now I work 3 days a week. I co-ordinate the care of patients with a terminal illness living across my region. It is a job that brings me much personal satisfaction (surprising as that may sound) and is a hugely rewarding role. It challenges me intellectually too, which I love.

My girls have adjusted well to the changes which come with me working again. For Holly the changes where minor as she was already at pre-school 3 days a week. For Isla, it was a little more of a change, but she adjusted with remarkable ease and is now at kindy which she has taken to like a duck to water. She proudly tells people how she is 'a big kindy kid'.

It amazes me how time keeps marching on, we have moved into another phase of our life now and I have to say, I am enjoying it.

  3. I had just wondered recently how you and your family might be! Time certainly does keep moving along and it is so noticeable with young children as they grow so fast! Glad to hear your transition to being a working mum has gone so well and that you are enjoying your new role - nice that it is 3 days a week, too - a great work/family/life balance.

    Take care,
    Jennifer

  5. Lou it is wonderful to see your blog again! I think the break did you good (and I adore the new look of your blog too). Your job sounds really interesting and it was just the thing I needed to read about today, as I have just found a new job too (after a few years of being a stay-at-home Mum). I start next week and am feeling a wee bit nervous, but also really excited. Your blog was just what I need today! Take care hon, Becks x
