The Cloth Nappy Company- Giveaway

As some of you may or may not know, I run a online shop called 'The Cloth Nappy Company' . After an extended babymoon following Isla birth, I am now reopening my nappy shop. To celebrate we are kicking off with a 20% off everything sale running from today until the 20th of June. For those of you that don't know much about modern cloth nappies, they are nothing like the old flat white nappy squares from years gone buy. There are no confusing folds, dangerous pins or hours of bleaching and soaking involved. Rather, they are as easy as a disposable to put on but instead of throwing them away, you throw them in the washing machine. Better for the environment and your budget

Now for the bit you have all been waiting for... the giveaway!

To celebrate the reopening of the Cloth Nappy Company, we are giving away a medium IttiBitti Dlish all-in-one nappy in rockmelon.

To enter all you need to do is become a fan of The Cloth Nappy Company on Facebook and leave a comment on our facebook wall telling us which nappy nappy from our store is your favorite.

Giveaway will be open until Friday the 4th June (New Zealand time) and a winner will be drawn at random and announced on Saturday the 5th.

Sorry this giveaway is only open to New Zealand and Australia.

My Creative Space

In  My creative space today is a pair of seven deadly ribs wrist warmers I am currently knitting from Patons jet wool. I just think wrist warmers are an awesome idea, they help you feel warm whilst keeping your hands free to do what you need to, especially important with a toddler and a baby in tow!

High Tea

My sister is due to have her first baby in a couple of months time. She told me in no uncertain terms that she DID NOT WANT A BABY SHOWER. Fair enough, she is not the type of person who would take fondly to having people make guesstimates about her waist size with pieces of string or play how many baby items can you remember. But, I could not let this special time in my only sisters life go past without some kind of celebration. So instead I organised a ladies  'high tea'.

We went to MonaVale. A lovely heritage homestead. The type of place where you feel like you are stepping back in time. The fireplaces are huge and the carpet dark. Speaking of the carpet, Isla did a wee on it while I was changing her nappy! I didn't say anything, just quickly popped a new nappy on her. No doubt in a couple of days they will wonder where the musty smell is coming from! We sipped tea from bone china cups and ate club sandwiches and mini scones. We sat, we chatted. My Sister even got in a little baby care practice, looking after Isla.

In line with my attempts to support handmade, I made some gifts for my future niece/nephew or "Ant BBs baby" (aunty Becky's baby), as Holly calls it.  I made a play mat/blanket from this minkee

and a jemima puddle duck needlework

Now we just have to wait another 2 months till we get to meet the little one, I can't wait! Thats the joy of being an aunty, you get all the excitement of a new baby without the pain and discomfort of pregnancy and labour!

This Little Miss Has A New Home!

Firstly can I just say how very humbled I am at the overwhelming response I have received to my giveaway, I was blown away by all the lovely responses I got, so to each and every one of you, thank you. Now without further ado, the winner of my little miss doll is.........

Kollene Carlsson
from

Congratulations Kollene, I will be in touch soon to get your address so this wee one can wing her way over to the USA.

A Day Away

I took the little ones on a fun little trip a few days ago to visit my parents at diamond harbor. It is about a 40 minute, winding car trip around the harbor or a very fun, 10 minute ferry ride. So guess which option we picked? Yep, the boat. Holly was literally shaking with excitement as she loves this little trip. For Isla it was her first boat ride. I am not sure if she liked it or hated it, she was very loud. I tend towards dislike but the ferry boat captain assured she was just having fun!

I also stumbled across the holy grail of vintage fabrics-

Unopened bed sheets! I have heard about them but have never had the luck to come across them before. Aren't they awesome? There are 2 flat single sheets so I am thinking about making them into 2 duvet covers for the bunk beds in Holly's room... if I can bring myself to open the packet.

My Creative Space

My creative space today is really my Mum's creative space. She knitted these lovely longies for Holly, although she said the increases and short rows drove her nuts so she won't knit another pair! They are knitted in a lovely hand dyed wool from creative outlet. Holly is loving them and they will help keep her toasty warm this winter. Thanks Mum.

My Creative Space

My creative space today is my creative space. For a long time, I did most of my creating at the dining room table but became frustrated with having to pack and unpack it all. Next, I tried setting up my gear in our sleep-out. As the weather begun to cool with the onset of autumn, I had found my enthusiasm for sitting in the cold sleep-out had began to wain. So, this week, I moved all my crafty goodness into the spare room and set up a little creative space for myself in front of the window. And what a creative space it is- am finding it a very inspirational little spot!

Feeling very lucky

I received a lovely little parcel in the mail today from Kelly at Reclaiming Me. You might remember, Kelly made the fabulous little green dress for Holly. Kelly was celebrating 100 blog posts and I was lucky enough to win a spot prize and what a spot prize it is!

This amazing little wrap dress for Isla. Made with  beautiful pink floral fabric on one side and green paisley on the other.

A crayon wrap for Holly. Made from the most divine fabric with butterflies on it. Holly has spent the afternoon pulling out the crayons and putting them back in again.

Even the packaging and card are exquisite. The little bag that the crayon roll came in is made from the page of a children's story book.

Thank you Kelly, they are beautiful gifts. As with all of Kelly's handmade goods, they are immaculately stitched and finished. If you like what Kelly makes, check out her felt shop for more of her homemade goodness.

Do you have this problem too?

I pull out the camera and.....

A certain little person spots it and....

she rushes over.

Miss Holly loves having her photo taken.

Maybe she will grow up to be a model or a TV presenter!
(although her Daddy wants her to be a builder or a plumber!)

And one of the little one.... because we could never forget her, she is too darn cute!

Happy Mothers day.

My Creative Space

In my creative space today is 2 little denim skirts for my 2 little girls.

They are a basic A-line shaped with an elasticated waistband. I have hand embroidered detail onto the front of each.

A Bit Of Vintage Lovely

I bought this lovely little dress off coolcrib, isn't it amazing? I fell in love with the beautiful vintage fabric. I wish I could be lucky enough to find amazing vintage fabrics like this when I go thrifting, but alas I never do.... maybe one day (well I can live in hope!)

But the best thing about this dress.....

It is completely reversible! And as the Mumma of any 2 year old would know, that comes in very handy for hiding things like ice cream stains when you are out.

From here to eternity

It has taken 8 years of marriage and 2 babies but my husband has finally bought me an eternity ring. It is not completely his fault. My engagement ring is vintage, so truth be told, it has been difficult to find anything that looks good beside it.  Anyway, last week we were in town with the girls when on a whim, I dragged the family into my favorite antique jewelers,  Young's. If you are a fan of beautiful old jewelry, you will love this place, it is full of the divine and the beautiful. It was here that I came upon this lovely gold and platinum ring and well, lets just say it was love at first sight.
